Program Description
The Counseling Program, as part of the Clinical Servcies Program, provides an array of strength-based/solution-focused psychotherapy, case management and parenting education services to the City of Alameda and the larger East Bay community.
Services Provided
Short-term, strength-based/solution-focused psychotherapy:
- for individuals, couples, families and groups at our Clement Street location
- in our school-based programs at Alameda, Encinal, Island and BASE high schools.
- in the Counseling Enriched Classroom at Washington Elementary School
- for the Alameda Point Collaborative community
- in group homes throughout Alameda County where youth have co-occurring struggles
Case Management and parenting education services
Our services are offered to the community by licensed therapists or supervised interns and we are generously funded by Alameda County Behavioral Health Care Services, Alameda County Probation Department & the Alameda Unified School District. We are a member of the Alameda County Delinquency Prevention Network and a Certified Medi-Cal Provider.
Eligibility
Our sliding-scale fee and MediCal services are offered to residents of the city of Alameda and other local cities. Subsidized counseling is available only to residents of the city of Alameda. Programs at Alameda Point Collaborative are restricted to residents of the program.

For our school-based programs at Lincoln, Chipman and Wood middle schools, please contact the school Guidance Counselor to request our services.
For our school-based programs at Alameda, Encinal, Island and BASE high schools, please contact the School Based Health Center at either Alameda or Encinal High.
For the Alameda Point Collaborative, please call 898-7813 and request our services.
Fees
Sliding Scale Fee; MediCal insurance; Limited no-cost sessions available for families eligible under the Alameda County Delinquency Prevention services.

Wish List
Unrestricted funds so we can increase the number of no fee or low fee counseling to more low income clients. Case Management wish list includes men, women, and children’s clothing, appliances, children’s toys, books, and games, strollers, blankets, school supplies, tools, and musical instruments
Funding Sources
Contracts with Alameda County Probation Department, Alameda Point Collaborative; Henry Robinson Multi Service Center, and Head Start. Sliding Scale Fees. MediCal Insurance; Fundraising through Alameda Family Service League; Individual Donations. EAP capability at request.
Ongoing Calendar of Events
Alameda Family Service League’s annual fundraisers include the Home Tour, which is the second Friday and Saturday in December, and the Mother’s Day Phantom Tea in April – May.
